Carter County
Career and Technical Center
Mechanical engineering is a program through Carter County CTC and is offered on-site at East Carter High School. The engineering field is vast, and there are many avenues for students who would like to purse a career in engineering after high school, at various levels of preparation. You can get a four year degree in many engineering fields, or you can get two year degrees for engineering tech careers if the four year college route isn't for you. Whatever you choose later, you can learn lots from our mechanical engineering program that will prepare you for many types of careers later. This pathway prepares students to apply mathematical and scientific principles to the design, development and operational evaluation of physical systems used in manufacturing and end-product systems for specific uses, such as machine tools, jigs and other manufacturing equipment; hydraulics; integration of computers in remote control operating systems (robotics), to name a few. Learn to design, develop, build, and test devices. If you love computers, being creative, building things, and working with your hands, then this program could be right for you!
